About Fútbol Unido
Fútbol Unido was created from a simple belief: that fútbol has the power to bring us together as a family, no matter where we come from, and that we should support each other through the game we love. During my trips to Latin America, I saw kids playing on rough dirt fields without proper shoes or gear, yet their love for the game never faded. Seeing how much they loved fútbol, even with the challenges they faced due to the conditions and lack of equipment, inspired me to act.
Through Fútbol Unido, we collect and deliver fútbol gear, especially cleats, to kids in communities that don’t have easy access to these resources. Our mission goes beyond handing out gear; it’s about giving kids the chance to play safely, confidently, and fully enjoy the sport that connects us all.
Meet the Founder
Hi, I’m Matteo Varela, and fútbol has always been a part of my life ever since I was a kid. Growing up, I would visit Latin American countries such as Colombia and Costa Rica.
I started Fútbol Unido after seeing kids in these countries playing without the right resources showing unbelievable passion for the game even though they didn’t have the proper equipment. Watching these kids play made me want to support and help them pursue their dreams and reach their potential, no matter their circumstances.
We are all united through the game of fútbol, and together, we can support each other.
Our Mission
At Fútbol Unido, our mission is to collect and deliver fútbol cleats and other gear to kids in under-resourced communities across Latin America, giving them the opportunity to grow and chase their passion through the game of fútbol. We want kids to step onto the field with the same confidence and equipment that many take for granted, so they can fully enjoy the game they love.
We may come from different places and backgrounds, but we are all united through fútbol and together, we can support each other and build a family that extends across borders. We believe fútbol is more than just a sport; fútbol creates family.
